Gold Award-Winning L-Shaped New Build Garden Packed with Features

Design Brief: The clients, a professional couple, asked Heather to design a high end masculine space in their small L-shaped garden in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, where they could entertain their friends.

Heather created three distinct garden zones which, despite the compact space available, created a journey through the garden. The main living room doors opened onto a formal lawn, with a sculptural focal point drawing the eye and low maintenance planting borders. Adjacent to the lawn, floating granite steps led up to the second zone, a raised timber deck where the clients could enjoy lounging in the sun surrounded by flowering perennials and climbers winding their way up the cedar-clad boundary fence. The oversized steps also led down to a contemporary courtyard patio area for evening entertaining of friends, with stone-clad raised planting borders with black basalt copings, a fire table and modern water feature with letterbox waterfall. Lighting and irrigation was installed throughout the garden.

This garden was built and planted to Heather’s designs in collaboration with Conquest Creative Spaces and won a GOLD AWARD at the Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) Awards in 2019.
